Definitely Maybe - Album Review

Hello,

So considering that I feel like reviewing albums today, I thought I should review an old one (and one of the most iconic albums of all time). That, of course, is 'Definitely Maybe' by the legendary Oasis.

I have reviewed 'The Getaway', 'Chasing Yesterday', 'Mechanical Bull' and 'Graffiti On The Train' before, so this is my fifth album that I am reviewing. Let's go track by track-

1- Rock 'n' Roll Star

Now what a way to kick off an album, with this song. As soon as you hear that guitar, you know the album is going to be absolutely crazy. This song is one of the best rock n' roll songs of all time, hence the name. There is nothing not to love about it.

2- Shakermaker

Where do I start with 'Shakermaker'? The intro is outstanding, and Liam's vocals as always are on point (if you didn't already know- I'm an Oasis fan). The lyrics don't make much sense, but still, this is what is going on in Noel's head most probably during his drug addiction, making it interesting.

3- Live Forever

One of the, and if not the most iconic britpop song of all time- 'Live Forever'. The lyrics are just unbeatable by Noel, and vocals again by Liam are brilliant, helping them to compliment each other. A truly amazing anthem.

4- Up In The Sky

Now the guitar for this track is just outstanding, and the chords just compliment each other fantastically. making this track amazing.

5- Columbia

'Columbia' is one of my favourite rock n' roll songs on this album, and if not my favourite. One of the lesser known, but the best. The guitar is amazing, and the vocals just give me goosebumps.

6- Supersonic

Of course, 'Supersonic' is one of the most popular and best songs from 'Definitely Maybe'. As soon as you hear that drum intro, you know it is Oasis, and that it is one of the most iconic britpop songs of all time. Simply unbeatable.

7- Bring It On Down

Once again, another lesser known song from Oasis, but the guitar is also insane and shows just how crazy Oasis really were, before the fame and after the fame. If it doesn't help to sum them up, I don't know what does.

8- Cigarettes & Alcohol

Despite being accused of copyright, 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' really is one of the best rock n' roll songs of all time, and one of Oasis' most known songs. It is one of those songs which you cannot not dance to, and it is one of their best.

9- Digsy's Dinner

Despite the lyrics not making too much sense, Liam sounds absolutely brilliant on vocals and 'Digsy's Dinner' just shows what Oasis is all about. Noel performed this in December when I saw him, and the crowd went mental to say the least. Amazing song.

10- Slide Away

'Slide Away' is an absolutely timeless classic from Oasis, whether it be the original version or the acoustic. It is one of the best songs of all time, and one you cannot deny that you love.

11- Married With Children

And finally from 'Definitely Maybe' is 'Married With Children', one of the lesser known Oasis tracks but one of the best. I think this is some of the best vocals Liam has to offer, and it is one of those songs that you cannot stop listening to.

So there we have it, 'Definitely Maybe' is definitely an album worth giving 5/5, or even 6/5, as it is one of the best and most iconic albums of all time.
